A Bridal Shower Tea

In early August 2011 the Sugar & Bows girls hosted a shower for our dear friend Kristin.  Knowing that this was a shower for a friend, we of course had to do something very special for her.  Kristin is a tea lover and when the thought of a traditional tea party crossed our mind, we knew it was perfect.

Surrounded by her friends and family, Kristin enjoyed many sweets and treats from us like various scones with lemon curd, jam, and butter, Russian tea cakes, lemon squares made by the brides grandmother and of course cupcakes. We also had Julie's famous raspberry lintzer cookies!  These have become a favorite and the heart cutouts in the cookie made for an adorable detail. We used assorted tiered dessert and cake plates to create some depth to the table and keep with the homemade feel we wanted to have shine through.

We created centerpieces using three white tea pots atop faux antique book boxes, and filled the pots with flowers.  To create a more vintage feel, we used mismatched floral plates and tablecloths provided by the brides mother. For gifts, we asked each guest to bring a tea cup for Kristin, so she could have an eclectic and beautiful tea set for her new home.  Each cup had a unique story that everyone shared during the gifts.

And last but not least, we made favors for everyone to take home.  We bought tea infused with rose petals and other floral flavors and put two tea bags into a larger bag for each guest.

We are so incredibly happy for Kristin!  Many wishes for a wonderful marriage!
